How to Get Rid of Reflections in Windows

It's really very easy to minimize glare once you know where the reflective damage is coming from. There's no need to panic and go out and buy new windows. You have two key options: reduce the source of the glare or eliminate turf from glare-prone areas.

Window Film with Anti-Glare

Investing in window film for artificial grass is perhaps the most common approach. The film is powerful and unobtrusive, reducing the amount of glare reflected onto the lawn. Outside of their houses, people may also add screens or awnings to physically prevent sunlight from hitting the reflective surface. Window treatments have the added benefit of increasing your home's energy quality.

Turf Removal from Glare Spots

You can easily shift turf out of high-risk areas if the idea of placing screens over all your windows does not appeal to you. There are various options for making this appear normal. Issue areas may be redesigned by using pavers or gravel to cover them.

Large rocks, for example, may be used as decorative elements. Consider planting a tree to block the light for a truly dramatic improvement.

Protect Your Turf

If you have (or are thinking about having) artificial grass installed, then you may very well experience the issue of turf burn. This is due to the hot spots created by the reflection of the sun off of your windows onto your new lawn and/or artificial turf. The solar energy is too great and therefore your new lawn or landscaping can be damaged.

The temperature of these hot spots can get so high that they destroy anything they touch. It's increasingly common for double pane and low-e windows to melt synthetic turf, vinyl siding and even cause natural grass to catch fire. Artificial turf will begin to melt at around 175 degrees Fahrenheit. We have also seen damage to vehicles and personal injuries sustained from a burn from coming into direct contact with a hot spot.
