How to Fix Melted Fake Grass The Easy Way

protect your turf from melting

Fortunately, repairing parts of damaged turf is relatively easy. There's no need to repair the entire turf roll unless the melting is extensive. Instead, hack out the ruined area and fix it up to make it look as good as new.

You'll need the following items:

- Seaming tape

- Utility knife

- Shop-vac

- Replacement turf

The following are the steps to repairing melted grass:

Vacuum up the infill: This will expose the backing layer, allowing you to more precisely cut around the damaged region.

Break the turf: Cut through the backing with a sharp utility knife. During this method, be careful not to cut the turf fibers.

Determine the row path of the turf backing: Turf backing is woven in rows. Make sure your substitute piece's backing is matched with the rest of the turf. Make sure the fibers are facing the same way the rest of the lawn is.

Cut a replacement patch: Cut a replacement patch of the same size using the removed portion as a reference.

Install seaming tape: Place adhesive-backed seaming tape under the turf opening, making sure to cover the entire opening with tape, adhesive side up. The tape should stick to the underside of the turf on its own, but you can protect it with small nails for added protection. To protect the turf surface, align it over the opening and press it tightly into the tape.

Apply the finishing touches: If required, trim the new fibers to even out the soil. Fill in the space with infill and spread it uniformly over the floor.
