Artificial Turf Melting and Its Effects on Fake Grass

Having artificial grass installed on lawns and gardens has a lot of benefits. Aside from low maintenance since it no longer needs to be watered and cut, there is also an added beauty to it, and it also doesn’t dry out compared to real grass. However, problems such as artificial turf melting can cause serious damage to the aesthetics of a meticulously manufactured fake grass. Nevertheless, to every crisis, there is always a solution.

Problem: The Melting of Artificial Grass and its Causes

There are quite factors that can cause artificial green grass to melt. The most common is prolonged exposure to reflected sunlight. Artificial turf is usually made to withstand the heat of the sun, however, like all things; it also has its limitations. Thus, when it reaches its melting point, it will start burning or melting when exposed to too much heat.

Another possible cause of the melting of synthetic grass is or otherwise known as plastic turf is its exposure to reflective chattels. Since most residential or commercial properties now use energy efficient windows, this is one of the most likely causes of artificial turf melting.

The reflection produced by these windows can amplify the sunlight's heat to a point where it creates an adverse chemical reaction to the artificial grass. Since these windows are meant to keep indoors cool, sunlight bounces off to the lawn provided by an artificial lawn company.

Solution: How to Minimize and Prevent Melting of Artificial Grass

One of the ways to fix melted synthetic grass is to simply just cut off the burned or melted part or have it replaced with a new best artificial turf for backyard. However, this could create a problem in the aesthetics of the lawn since the newly installed artificial grass may look different from the part that has been exposed to the heat.

To prevent any more damages, the synthetic grass must be watered from time to time to cool down the material and avoid it from melting anytime soon.

Since one of the good things about artificial grass is that it doesn't require regular maintenance, a much better way to prevent damage and artificial turf melting is to protect it from the sun's reflection. Installing clear perforated window films would be the best solution to the problem.

This is also an easy procedure since it only requires cleaning of the surface before sticking the film to the outer part of the window. Hiring a professional to fix the problem of artificial turf melting will no longer be necessary.
