Effects of Energy-Efficient Windows on Artificial Turf

Artificial turf and energy-efficient windows are now common in many households. They use such materials to save energy and water consumption. But according to research, you can’t put the e-windows and the fake lawn in one area. In this post, we will discuss the adverse effects of energy-efficient windows on this turf.

The Effects of E-Windows on Synthetic Grass

The artificial turf is made of nylon or polyester materials. These compounds are components of plastic. Thus, you can be sure of its quality. If you handle it with care, it could last up to 20 years.

However, fake grass is susceptible to melting when exposed to intense heat. Though it can withstand temperatures up to 250oC, there’s a tendency that it will melt when it exceeds that limit.

There are two possible reasons why this happens. The first reason is if the fire is directly applied to the lawn. However, this circumstance only occurs occasionally or accidentally.

But the primary reason why the artificial turf melts is because of the energy-efficient windows. E-windows can save energy costs as it traps the air inside the house and stabilizes the room temperature. Moreover, it lets the natural light come in.

However, it could also ruin the appearance of your synthetic turf. Window glasses have reflective properties. So, when the sun hits the glass, it will resonate on the mirror. This may result in the increasing temperature in your yard. Consequently, it will shrink the grass blades until they dissolve.

How to Prevent the Turf From Shrinking?

There are several ways to stop the synthetic lawn from melting. First, you can turn on the sprinkler every morning to dampen the area and to reduce the heat. However, this is only a temporary solution. Once the surface is dry, the temperature will increase again. On top of that, it can lead to higher water bills.

If you want permanent protection for your artificial lawn, you may use a window film. Not only does it provide privacy to homeowners; it also absorbs heat, reducing the temperature in the yard. Thus, it minimizes the risk of grass disintegration.

The artificial turf is the better alternative to natural grass as it replicates its appearance. Moreover, it doesn’t wilt; thus, giving your garden permanent beauty. However, you could only enjoy its perks if you know how to take care of it. With the use of a privacy film for windows, you are guaranteed that your lawn will last for years.
