How Does Sun Reflection Burn Artificial Grass

When we think of artificial grass, we think of its purpose, which is to provide permanent beauty to your yard. However, artificial turf tends to burn. So what could be the reason for this damage?

The Reflection Coming From the Sun Burns Grass

A reflection refers to throwing back the light or heat without absorbing it. When the sun rises, its rays hit the glass window or any surface that has reflective properties. Because it doesn’t absorb heat, the window transfers it to an object adjacent to it, in this case, the artificial grass.  Consequently, the temperature tends to rise, causing it to burn.

How Will You Know if Sun Reflection Causes Damage to the Turf Damage?

It’s easy to determine if the artificial lawn is melting or burning. Once you see discolorations or patchy areas, you will know that some of the grass blades have already burned or melted. The question is, how can you tell if the sun’s reflection causes it?

Fortunately, there’s a way to know the cause of the damage. First, you need to stand in the area where the brown spots are. Look down and observe the appearance of your shadow. If it’s showing a light silhouette, it means the damage is caused by the sun reflection.

Another thing that you should do is to touch the artificial grass. Synthetic turf is hotter than natural lawn. However, it gets scorching hot when the sun’s reflection gets too hot as well.

To check if the sun’s reflection triggers the melting, you need to touch the ground for at least 5 seconds. If you can’t handle the heat, it means it’s the sunlight’s fault why your artificial grass is burning.

How to Stop Sun Reflection?

We cannot control the sun from rising, but we can avoid the damage caused by its reflection. Here are the things that you must do to stop sun reflection.

Tip #1: Plant Tall Trees.

One of the ways to prevent sun reflection damage is to plant tall trees. Trees are the natural protectors of synthetic grass. It gives shade to your lawn, especially during peak hours. Furthermore, it cools down the temperature as it produces fresh, clean air.

However, it would take years before you rip off its benefits. Thus, you need to have a backup plan for protecting your turf while the trees are still growing.

Tip #2: Use Awning Windows.

Technically, awning windows are replacement windows. However, it doesn’t harm your grass, unlike other types. It gives shade to your lawn if you open the sash. But you need to spend more money as you need to buy the product and pay for the installation service.

Tip #3: Apply Perforated Window Films.

Perforated window films, or more commonly known as window perf, are tints used for displaying ads. However, you can use it to protect your synthetic lawn. It has anti-glare properties that reduce the risk of sun reflection damage. But unlike other window films, it doesn’t compromise the view. You will still see the sight even if the film is on the glass window.

Several sellers are now offering window films. But if you want to get quality window films for your artificial grass, then you should choose the Turf Guard Window Film. Visit windowfilmforturf.com to learn more information.
