The Most Common Artificial Grass Landscape Contouring

Give your lawn a unique, green look with the use of artificial grass. You can use it in landscaping different styles of lawn depending on your personal preference.

You can easily install a synthetic grass even to hardscapes like the driveway. You can use manufactured or natural border materials to do the edging, or you can opt not to use any border. However, it is recommended to use a border if you are edging by yourself.

Here are 7 options in doing the edging.

  • Bendable Borders

This is an affordable, convenient, and easy to install border. It is available at any home improvement shop. Bendable edging is normally produced from metal or plastics and can last for a couple of years.

  • Curbing

Curbing is a well-known hardscape lawn edging normally stamped and concrete. It has an attractive finish, but this is not advisable if you are planning to change your overall landscaping or lawn because of its permanency.

  • Pebbles

Can be used as a complementary cover to the ground and edge around your artificial turf. This doesn’t provide a sturdy border, however you can combine it with bendable border to easily maintain and prevent gravel from mixing with your synthetic grass.

  • Paving Stones

This is a great option if you want to have a durable narrow border. It goes very well with artificial grass as the combination of both offers less maintenance landscape. This requires less water, making it the best choice for those who want to engage in drought-tolerant landscape.

  • Railroad Ties

A sturdy, versatile border option, which is the most popular choice of homeowners. It can be combined with hardscape and landscape features. If you want to set up your garden prior to installing an artificial lawn, then this is ideal for you.

  • Timber

This can be lumber or logs border which are for straight-edge artificial lawns while the small parts of the logs are often used on curved artificial turf.

  • Wood bark

Offers color contracts with your synthetic grass while giving a natural view. It is best to use solid edging between the wood bark or chips to keep it from the artificial grass.

These are just some of the most common choices for edging. A sturdy border is recommended but not required. However, it provides easier maintenance and allows you to keep the weak border from your artificial grass. If it’s your first time edging, don’t hesitate to ask an expert to make sure that you can get the results you want.
